The deity of Sirius who guards rain and life who defeated Apaosha under the blessing of Ahura Mazda. Tishtrya is the god of rain and stars in the Avesta, whose celestial counterpart is Sirius. Created by Ahura Mazda, he is the most illustrious and powerful among the stars, embodying light, abundance, and life that stands against drought. In the Tishtar Yasht, he is praised for appearing in three forms: the first ten days as a graceful youth, the middle ten days as a golden-horned bull, and the last ten days as a pure white horse. In these forms he patrols the earth and draws the sacred waters of the cosmic sea. The faithful call upon his name in the hymn; only through proper sacrifice and praise can they lend him the power to overcome darkness. The confrontation between Tishtrya and the drought demon Apaosha is one of the most moving battles in the myths. Tishtrya descends upon the sacred sea as a white horse with a golden mane, while Apaosha becomes an ugly black horse to block him. They clash for three days and nights, and Tishtrya is first driven
