In the early 14th century, Mansa Musa, king of the Mali Empire in West Africa, deeply shocked Europe and the Arabia world in his "unique" way.
In 1324, Mansa Musa embarked on a pilgrimage to Mecca. Five hundred slaves walked in front of the procession with golden canes, followed by more than 100 camels loaded with gold and a large number of wives and concubines dressed in gold jewelry. Mansa Musa was sitting on the throne in the center of the procession, spreading gold coins generously. Not even the royal European nobles had ever seen such a luxurious and fantastic procession.
