The founding monarch of Goguryeo, the northernmost of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. In 36 BC, at the banks of the Biryu River, Jumong fired an arrow that struck the crown of the king of Biryu, Sonyang. With this shot and his exceptional leadership skills, Jumong launched a far-reaching military campaign that would expand the kingdom of Goguryeo. Through his extraordinary archery skills and exceptional leadership, Jumong quickly conquered dozens of neighboring tribes and countries, acquiring vast territory. At its peak, the kingdom of Goguryeo ruled over much of the Korean peninsula. Under Jumong's leadership, Goguryeo became the most powerful country on the Korean peninsula. Jumong established a state that lasted for over 700 years and greatly influenced the historical development of the Korean peninsula. Due to his tremendous accomplishments, he was revered as the "Dongmyeong the Holy".
