A warlord and third head of the Odawara Hojo clan during the Sengoku period of Japan, known as the Lion of Sagami. In 1545, under the cover of night, Hojo Ujiyasu led his 8,000 troops in a surprise attack on the Uesugi army of 80,000, turning the tide of battle with his bravery and tactical skills. His soldiers, inspired by his courage, fought tenaciously and crushed the enemy army. This victory, known as the Siege of Kawagoe Castle, was one of the "Three Great Surprise Attacks" of the Sengoku period of Japan. Hojo Ujiyasu was not only a skilled and valiant general, but also an accomplished ruler who laid the foundation for the prosperous rule of the Later Hojo clan. He was revered as the "Lion of Sagami".
